Eat & Move Consciously

Consider the idea of rewarding yourself for a hard day's work with a big, fattening piece of cheesecake, versus with a brisk jog in the fresh evening air. While relaxing in front of the tube and gorging on sweets initially sounds more appealing to many of us, that sluggish, belly-full-of- sugar feeling is no match for the hard won endorphin-high of a good run. We humans tend to project our dislike of physical activity onto our dogs, assuming they would much rather sit and eat than move. I feel, though, that this is a most dangerous brand of anthropomorphism. When we (humans) honor our inner-animal...when we get outside and run around and feel that blessed burn...we realize that we much prefer what is best for our body and mind to quick and dirty fixes in moments of sluggishness or self-deprecation. Let your dogs remind you that, like them, you are worth the fresh air; worth the challenge; worth the sweat and worth the victory!
