Today marked the completion of my first two weeks as a student at Bergin University of Canine Studies. While maintaining a daily journal with full written explanations of everything we experience and learn is going to be tough, I know I am involved in something BEYOND AMAZING and utterly life changing, and therefore must do my best to at least record highlights.

During this first two weeks, we were immersed in the mock Client Boot Camp experience. In other words, we, as students, have just experienced what potential clients obtaining service dogs will go through before having their dogs assigned to them. By the end of the semester, we will have each trained a presently-in-progress service dog to its full potential, and will be teaching the clients to whom those dogs will be assigned. The learning process thus far has been intense, as is the prospect of what is yet to come. In two weeks, I have unlearned as many things as I have learned, both categories holding countless examples. But one thing I know for certain is that at the heart of it all...are a bunch of young dogs whose destiny is to serve human companions in need of their support. These dogs are supreme examples of divine love and healing in earthly form. And it is an honor to realize that I will be an integral part of getting them ready for their life's work. In turn, they will continue to help me materialize my own passions and goals, for helping people and animals alike.
